BREXIT - UK leaves Erasmus+ programme
The new trade and cooperation agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom, signed on 30 December, sets out the rules for relations between the two parties.
The agreement, which entered into force on 1 January 2021, provides for the withdrawal of the former Member State from the Erasmus+ programme.
While ongoing mobility projects and partnerships with the United Kingdom – funded by the 2014-2020 programme – will remain possible until 2023, the administrative procedures will change. As freedom of movement also no longer applies, changes in the rules for entering the United Kingdom are expected: obtaining a visa (except for short-term stays) and taking out health insurance will therefore be required, which will entail additional costs.
